People may be interested in my method for creating laser-cut dovetail joints. The idea is to get the laser to do most of the work and also to exploit the material's grain. The method adds a couple of extra features to the "pin" part of the joint: a cut notch and an etched guide. Prior to assembly a small amount of work is required to remove the out-of-plane parts. The pin pieces are clamped, a chisel is carefully positioned and, with a few light taps, a triangular piece is sheared off along the grain. "Dovebox" is my test of the technique (P1 5.5mm bamboo).
