Two Helpful Illustrator Scripts

Had a couple helpful illustrator scripts that I wanted to share...

In case you don't use them. (A script is a series of commands that tells Illustrator to perform one or more tasks. Adobe Illustrator supports scripts written in AppleScript, JavaScript or VBScript.) Once downloaded, put the new script in Adobe Illustrator CS4/Presets/Scripts folder. The scripts will then show up in the scripts submenu. Inside Illustrator you can find the scripts under File > Scripts. Additionally you can load them using "Other Script" and find them on your hard drive.

1) Monoline Text

Handy javascript to generate polyline text, I find that doing simplify path at 95% to the newly created text helps smooth the arcs without deforming the letters.

2) Dimensions

With this simple script first select an item in your file then run the script. Measurements are in mm and are created on a new layer and grouped for easy repositioning. Useful when generating digital proofs for a third party. You can edit the code to have it output inches.
