Yep - this is a feature request which is with Zendesk - who power the forum system we use.

As far as we understand this is in the works for an upcoming revamp of the forum system - so keep an eye out. In the meantime, as far as I know you should be able to edit forum posts that you have kicked off a thread with (such as this one) but not replies to other people's threads.
